Jewish Heritage Tour in Poland

Szydłów - Synagogue – it was built in the middle of the 16th century.
Inside the synagogue there is Aaron ha-Kodesh - a place where a rabbi put in
the Torah after prayers were over. The synagogue features an exhibition of artefacts connected
with the Jewish culture, and in particular holy books and sacred objects. One can see a four-metre high statue
of Moses holding the Decalogue and 18 brass bass-reliefs with scenes form the Old Testament by the Polish sculptor Prof. Gustaw Zemła.

Chmielnik - Synagogue - there are not too many places in Poland like Chmielnik, where cultural and political
history of this town made it one of the most interesting places in our region. The growing interest in history of
Jews from Chmielnik is inseparably connected with numerous relations of local people about history of this town,
its development as cultural and trade center.

Pińczów -Synagogue - was through centuries called "ancient Judea in miniature”. Synagogue in Pińczów– a wonderful piece of architecture and art. It was built in the beginning of XVIIth century. The synagogue was
located in the centre of Jewish quarter, close to the extensive Jewish cemetery. The experts of Jewish architecture
claim that the Pińczów synagogue is the oldest example of prayer house in polish lands, in which all chambers
form a compact block covered by common roof. On the Eastern wall of men’s hall there is a stone-made aron hakodesz.
