Temat: Too much time on-line?
Good morning,I was invited here by a friend and former colleague. It looked like an interesting site and an opportunity to meet even more people who share a common interest and language.
However, when my girlfriend saw me typing here one night she simply exclaimed, "another one?!", referring to the fact that I was typing messages on yet another website to yet more virtual aquantancies.
Rather than becoming defensive, as one might have expected, I realised that yes, I do spend far too much time typing on the internet and nowhere near enough time improving my language skills, which afterall, was the main reason I came to Poland.
Therefore, I'm considering removing, or at least 'logging out with intent' from all of the social networking sites and forums in which I am a member. I am sure I will see a big change in my life.
Having looked at all the hours I've spent online over the last ten years, I think I've probably lost at least one third of my life, so that's about 3 years lost exploring cyberspace; surely enough time to have become fluent in another language?
Do you think you spend too much of your life on-line? What could you be doing instead? Is chatting on-line really a good way to relax or just another form of escapism? Have you already left and I'm typing this email to a cyber-blackhole? Whya re my posts always over verbose?
If like me, you decide you are wasting your life, what will you do about it?
