Bernd,
I use Chris for speaking in English (as my original name is impossible to pronounce by natives), so there is no rat here :)Krzysztof Dargiewicz edytował(a) ten post dnia 02.09.11 o godzinie 10:28

I don't get it. Why wouldn't you speak English yourself? And how much do you pay that Chris to constantly be around? And how come natives are so disabled or mentally challenged to be unable to pronounce names? And why do Polish maps of Germany have different, impossible to pronounce names of German cities?

Never trust anyone who would give up their own name, Bernie.

My approach would be: System of language simplification for language learners.

1. Introduce levels: 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 vocabulary burden. Or maybe a burden set with a slider.

Explanations: do not show up, they are static in the margin,
only difficult-ones, with some hint on grammar issues...

Does anyone, Polish guys, remember Mozaika and Mała Mozaika?
http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozaika_(czasopismo)

They were issued in four languages! Russian, German, French, English.

===================
2. I would employ translators that would do the job of translation English -> Simplified English. Perhaps I would even use CAT\s like OmegaT, Trados to reuse translations and increase productivity. So that the news in simplified versions would show up more often.

==================
3. I would perhaps buy a concordance solution that would analyze the texts and indicate the words that exceed the 500. 1000, 1500 vocab levels.
==================

4. I would ask Google to employ me for this idea, because this can be done for all languages, with the corpora available to Google... and because basically nobody would use it if it were not for free.

===
5. I would employ a simple flashcard system or cooperate with one, e.g. Anki, to facilitate learning new words.Jacek K. edytował(a) ten post dnia 03.09.11 o godzinie 19:11
