Apparently, British people believe Polish women have yellow teeth, and that Poles eat swans:

My Scandinavian colleague claims that British people eat too much fried food and have poor teeth... Honestly, I haven't seen many British with beautiful teeth, but not to that degree. The same about other nations. Poles drink a lot of tea and coffe. Whitening toothpaste makes huge career here ;). Anyway.. Scandinavian are obsessed with white and healthy teeth and the health system supports prevention programs.
Plus for British: naturally beautiful and smooth skin, milk and honey.

Scandinavian think that Poles are not educated, thatt they perform only blue collar jobs, that our country is dangerous on the same scale as Russia, that you should be careful when eating something.. ;)))) I love proving that we don't sleep in the trees ;) and eat processed meet.

I don't like such exaggerations and generalization. better I take my electric toothbrush ;)))

uhm uhm uhmmm my favorite dish by far! Especially baby swans! Can you say deeeeeeeeelicious! I actually like to bite their heads of while they are still fresh! It's a delicacy... didn't you know?

Actualy, the subject line is pretty misleading Warren, I though you could shed some light on this matter... along with other British members of this board. I am actually very curious.Rafal Wolk edytował(a) ten post dnia 11.02.08 o godzinie 18:38

It's because of the misty and moist climate of the British Isles, as Polish women's mags say :)))

I guessed as much.

All I'll say for now is that I've never heard any British people claim that Poles eat swans, or that Polish women have yellow teeth.

There was some case not long ago of Kosovan refugees (allegedly) eating swans, but I've never heard it applied to Poles by anyone other than pani Ola.

hahaha.. that's what I call dodging the bullet heheheh.... you are a very opinionated person (maybe just play one on the net). I thought you could provide more of an insight, living in Poland and all...

That's an urban legend. I've heard about this in Krakow (about some Romanians) and Wroclaw (just regular homeless people). I would advise anyone who claims that people eat swans to try and catch a swan. And prepare themselves for eating soft foods with a straw from that moment.

Taking pani Ola's previous sources of information into account I've come to the conclusion that she might have heard these "blasphemous rumors" from her learned Polish friends and as in case of any other news they tell her she didn't bother to check them.

Generally speaking, it's an urban legend.

But not always ........

Can't agree more! This reminds me of a story an Irishman, faced with a similar opinion of the Irish on American TV. The old man, unable to convince his partners that the Irish are not wild animals, gave up and told them a hair-raising story of how his family would gather for dinner to gobble up an ox head and a bucket of potatoes. His father, as head of the family, would always begin by taking the ox head by the ears and then he would start from the eye sockets. The rest of the story was so horrible and disgusting that viewers switched off their tv sets.

Don't know what British attitudes to Poles are. Warren, you tell us. I can tell you what my attitude to the British (or rather English) is.

I don't imagine British people generally believe Polish women have yellow teeth or that Poles eat swans.

I doubt that even a significant minority have this opinion.

I am merely acting as pani Ola's messenger here.

I don't know when you were extremely hungry last time and if you ever didn't eat for, say, 3 days in a row but I think your imagination allows you to understand that hunger is a very powerful motivator.

And as for swan hunting; guess a net or a heavy blanket weighted up at the corners + a baseball bat or something like that would be enough. Maybe even a few ordinary bricks or a well thrown flagstone would do the thing.
