There were two or three guys from Poland (born in Poland) eligible for the draft this year but they were not ranked. Let me check what their names were. I totally forgot...

UPDATE: I've got it! They were: Dariusz Gruszka, Paweł Połącarz, Grzegorz Pasiut, Paweł Dronia.

You may find more info on Polish players in 2007 in Michal Pregowski's report here:

http://www.nhl.com.pl/komentarz_pregowski.php?kid=3371 (in Polish).

PS. I would also encourage to register your account at forum.nhl.com.pl and join our community. We have a special section for English speakers. Please let me know if you have any queries.Alan O. edytował(a) ten post dnia 24.06.07 o godzinie 13:23

i think the sharks picked a few pretty good players, lots of talk about them on nhl.com

are you guys by the way aware of NHL on the fly network? You can see highlights of all games with comments and analysis on http://onthefly.nhl.com/

not sure whether this is valid also for regular season, but at least during playoffs it was a tremenduous source of information for someone who lives in a country where nobody gives a damn about icehockey...!!

by the way, what's your favorite team???Piotr T. edytował(a) ten post dnia 03.07.07 o godzinie 21:48

There is only 1 hockey team...the Toronto Maple Leafs. Everyone else does not matter.

by the way, is Nolan still in Toronto? He used to be a main factor on the Sharks lineup in the 90-ies.

LOL! I am a true blue Leafs fan, my cousin (mothers first cousin) was once the Captain of the Leafs, and later for a brief time the coach. As for Nolan....NOOOOOOO!!!!! he is long long gone. Infact there was a big court case between him and the Leafs over money owed. I believe he played somewhere last year (he has not played since before the lock out).

Please do not tell me you are a Sen's fan.

Not sure if you heard the news but the Leafs just signed Vesa Toskala (Sharks's) to a three year deal (originally one but a two year extension was inked this morning). 1st year $1.3million and $4 million in years two and three. They have not confirmed it but it looks like Raycroft will not be the #1 goalie and will play back up to Toskala unless Raycroft is traded. I can smell the playoffs already.

BTW. did you know in order to get seasons tickets in Toronto you need to be on a waiting list that is 15 years in length. In other words, if you had a child today and signed up at the same time for seasons tickets you would get them in time for his/her 15th birthday. Sucks being a Leaf's fan sometimes.

you're serious about the 15 yrs??? jeez....

TOSKALA??? my god. Well it was to be expected that the Sharks would trade one of their goalies, also in view of their recent draft choice of 2 young goalies. However I kinda expected them to trade Nabokov, i guess however he's too expensive for most other teams. I'm not sure if sharks did the right thing here. It seems that the Sharks are only trading away instead of strenghtening their team...

15 years ...no joke. I have not been able to get good tickets at a reasonable price in years. Most of the time, you end up buying a ticket for @$160 CND off scalpers. It costs a fortune to go to the games but they are sold out everytime. Toskala will rock the Leafs if he can take the media and fan's watching every move he makes and letting him know what they think of him. Raycroft could not handle the fact the home fans would boo him when he was in net.

you should move to san jose :-) when i lived in Cali i went to sharks games for as low as 15 bucks without any difficulties...:-)

Toskala is a good goalie, but he's not very stable in his performances. He has given stellar performances in the past, but they were usually followed by weak periods. I'm still not sure what to think of Toskala, but I do believe he would be better than Raycroft. What's your fav player on the Leafs team?

Darcy Tucker is my fav. My wife knows him personally as well. He plays with passion, something that is missing today.

Being an Islanders fan, I will always remember Tucker's dirty knee-to-knee hit on Mike Peca ;) But that's another story. I may not like him but I respect his dedication to help the team game in and game out.

in terms of passion and dedication, who best shows sportsmanship in the NHL?

I would vote for Joe Sakic, he is one of my all-time fav players.

He is a very modest guy who gives his everything each game and always thinks about teamwork and serving his team to the fullest of his abilities. No selfish goals, rather a cool assist and I love the way he always stays calm. I think he is a true champion.

I also always thought highly of Saku Koivu, although not as succesful as Sakic, he is a technically a fantastic player who always thinks team first.

I'd vote for Stevie Y., if he played. Since he has already retired, I think I will support your thesis and also point my finger at Sakic.

Now Pecca is with the Leafs as well....at least for the time being. Last I heard they have not talked about and extension and Pecca is shopping around.

Regarding best sportsmanship...Sakic yes, Ron Francis...if we are talking historically he is my choice.
