This isn't strictly a job, more of a function. SKOS admins are students who live in a dormitory and overlook proper functioning of the dormitory network. The network itself is quite big, connecting 13 buildings and nearly 3000 computers. Responsibilities include:
- monitoring the network
- troubleshooting the network
- helping other students and dormitory staff with their network related problems
- installing and configuring new switches (mainly Hewlett-Packard) and other network hardware
- securing the network and monitoring malicious traffic
- configuring and monitoring servers. Servers are mostly Linux boxes, with Debian or CentOS installed. Some of the solutions that are used: apache, nginx, postgresql, radius, bind, rsyslog, nagios, logwatch, squid, puppet, nmap, ossec, rancid, trac and many more.
- developing the network and implementing new, promising solutions on servers
- writing scripts for automating various tasks. Preffered language is bash, although I prefer to use Python.
- recruting new administrators

Since there are many SKOS admins (around 10) this position also requires some teamwork and good communication skills.
