The World of Mixed Martial Arts… possibly one of the few remaining sports still untainted by greed, although it is briskly heading in that awful direction.

Mirco was really good a while back, now he should retire before he gets hurt. Last three fights he got demolished. Problem with Mirco, his ground game is really not up to standards anymore. Right now all the young blood coming in is Jiu jitsu/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu first as a base or greco roman wrestling then on top of that they usually have couple other black belts in various fighting styles. What is happening right now (especially after Dana White from UFC purchased Pride) is that all the old fighters are slowly being eliminated and new faces are out to shine. I can see many other fighters that would easily take on the likes of Coulture, Liddell (who actually just got KO'ed last week in the second round by his own signature over the top hit) Mirco himself got KO'ed by Gonzaga by a kick to the head. They just can't afford to be two dimensional fighters anymore. It's become science at this point.

Another great MMA arena was started in February of this year in Japan as an answer to the loss of PRIDE. It’s called DREAM and it features some of the most amazing fighters. With less restrictions than UFC and fighters who right now are still trying to establish themselves and make a niche in the market.

Kimbo Slice ... his hyped up image came crushing down ... finally, not a minute too soon. Last weekend he got KO'ed by a... well a nobody in under 14sec's of the first round. I like Kimbo, he's a likable character... good street fighter, but MMA? Not really MMA material...

Yea... haha... Kimbo is known for street fighting, he was hyped up by a huge fan base strictly through youtube. Dana White from UFC denied Kimbo entry to the octagon simply because he is not a MMA fighter and in the MMA circles he is pretty much a joke. Not to say that he is not a nice guy and a funny one at that... but that alone will not get you into the ring with some of the best fighters world wide. He's fought some street thugs and some washed up fighters, but never anyone who is young, aggressive and with any technical skills. This guy is young and has everything to prove... he is still nowhere near the best of the best although he was a US national full contact Karate champ at one point.Rafal W. edytował(a) ten post dnia 08.10.08 o godzinie 13:09

I agree 100%... I wonder if they will put him against Fedor (??) I'd love to see Fedor KO Brock.
Career wise, this was a bad move for Randy, but I'm sure financially it was probably as big of a payout as the three fights against Chuck.
You must admit however that during the Mir fight it was a pretty close call at one point.

Mir was in trouble for a while but it was still easy for him to find a submission when they were on the ground. And if it's Big Nog we're talking about - this man can take punishment! Remember the fight with Bob Sapp? He took everything Sapp could give and subbed him. Lesnar is not as big as Sapp, maybe stronger but less experienced. I'm sure Nog will have no problem with Lesnar.
Nogueira never loses, he just runs out of time. ;]

I hope so, I am really disappointed in the way politics have been playing a major role in the UFC as of late. Dana is trying to turn it into WWE with grudge matches etc etc... I mean he did revive the sport from near bankruptcy but still... it's slowly becoming boxing. Right now they have a lot of fresh meat to pounce on, but this won't last very long... then you'll have a new establishment of "good fighters"... will see.
