Temat: The fuel cell of CFC Solutions

The fuel cell of CFC Solutions works at about 650 degrees Celsius and apart from power also provides useful heat at a temperature of about 400 degrees Celsius. This heat turns the HotModule into an interesting, decentralised small power station. It is used for many operational processes. Michelin tyre manufacturer, for example, uses it for the generation of process steam for the vulcanisation of tyres, hospitals for sterilising medical instruments. Besides, the heat can be used for air-conditioning (combination of power, heat and cold with absorption cooling devices).

The technology allows power generation with natural gases but also with biogas, firedamp, sewage gas and other secondary gases with extremely good efficiency and high levels of electrical energy: Whereas traditional combined heat power generation plants achieve a net efficiency rate of around 40 per cent, the HotModule achieves 47 per cent.

Thanks to its high efficiency rate, the CO2 emissions are clearly below those of traditional technologies and the availability of heat energy on high temperature levels enables varied and effective utilisation.

The fact that the HotModule can go without exotic materials despite all the progress is fascinating. Affordable material is the basis of this technology.
