Temat: Verbal VIctory - relacja ze spotkania 14.03.

Poznan Toastmasters Verbal Victory Club was a proud host to another meeting in the Toastmasters tradition. The meeting took place at Wyższa Szkoła Bankowa, ul. Powstańców Wielkopolskich 2 (room number 101) in Poznań.

The Toastmaster of the Evening, Tomasz Puton and General Evaluator Joanna Chmiel affected deeply by the tragic events in Japan chose this country as the theme of the evening. Throughout the whole meeting there were mentions of the earthquake and tsunami. After the guests were welcomed by the President and the evaluation team was introduced the first part of the meeting began. Table Topics session, Toastmaster tradition, had 4 contestants this evening which all had to answer a difficult question about saving your pet in a Tsunami.

There were three prepared speeches at this meeting. This important part of the meeting began with a new member, Marcin Kordasz, breaking the ice with us while talking metaphorically about crushing walls of ice. The next speaker, Kaja Milanowska, further expanded our imagination by vividly speaking about reading books. Our Club President and an accomplished speaker, Jerzy Zientkowski performed a speech on the Kennedy Assassination in an effort to bring us to the edge of our seats.

After the break the meeting had an evaluation session lead by the General Evaluator, Joanna Chmiel. Since this was the first meeting at the new location there were some organizational issues which were raised. This has led to some very interesting feedback at the end of the meeting which will enhance our future meetings.

Our next meeting is taking place at the British Council Library in Poznań. Club member who brings most guests to that sanctuary of English language will have a wonderful opportunity to participate in a Speechcraft-Workshop session at Wyższa Szkoła Bankowa on 22nd March. Shortly afterwards, on the 30th March there will be a speech contest at the Polish Toastmasters Poznan Club which we were warmly invited to by the hosts to take the roles of secondary judges or ‘target speaker’.
