Working in the cryptosporidium department I have developed my team working skills. I am fully conversant with the DWI and UKAS requirements and how they affect the way in which we work including the need for a quality system, calibration and regular auditing. DWI’s strict standards is extremely critical in the crypto lab where non-compliance is non-negotiable. I have a proven adaptability and flexibility as the job requires working on a rota where weekends and bank holidays are regarded as a normal working day.

Managed the day-to-day running of the UKAS accredited microbiology - cryptosporidium laboratory ensuring compliance with external and internal regulations, policies and standards. Responsible for the regulatory analysis and microscopic examination of Cryptosporidium parvum;
Regulatory and Operational Cryptosporidium elution and primary concentration by Filta-Max, IMS procedure, Staining, Mounting and Microscopy, according to QI procedure;
Responsible for the Microbiological analysis of both waste and clean water samples from across the chain (i.e. lakes, general water supplies, sewage treatment plants and drinking water) for algae, chlorophyll, activated sludge and filament identification, and reporting these to the customer.
Highly flexible approach to all working practices and able to respond to variable workloads in the most efficient manner.
Active role in the development and training of new starters and youth trainees;
Part of a small dedicated team that has reacted promptly and professionally to a series of incidents which have involved out of hours;
