Process Manager (Capacity & Availability management)
As a part of Service Management Centre regional process owner resposible for Capacity & Availability processes implementation for internal Atos Global IT.

Capacity:
- Responsible for the management of the capability and functionality of service components (including hardware, software and network) to meet current and forecast needs in a cost effective manner.
- Ensure that sizing and capacity planning is provided by modeling and trending using historic and business projected volume metrics driving just in time capital deployment.
- Report on performance against targets contained in SLAs. Produce monthly management reports which include current usage of resources, trends and forecasts.
- Ensure that appropriate levels of monitoring of resources and system performance are set, and that the information recorded in a CMDB is kept up-to-date and used by all parts of the Capacity Management process
- Produce Capacity Plans in line with the organisation's business planning cycle, identify capacity requirements early enough to take account of procurement lead times.
- Size all proposed new systems to determine the computer and network resources required, to determine hardware utilisation, performance service levels and cost implications. Assess new technology and its relevance to the organisation in terms of performance and cost and assess new hardware and software products for use by Capacity Management that might improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the process
- Carry out performance testing of new systems and out ad-hoc performance and capacity studies on request from IT management

Availability:
- Ensuring Service Levels in respect of availability are met for all current and new services
- Responding to availability related Incidents and Problems
- Ensuring that appropriate Configuration Items and services are monitored for availability through Event Management
- Specifying appropriate levels of component reliability, maintainability and serviceability
- Reporting availability performance against service levels
- Creating and maintaining the Availability Plan
- The continual improvement of the Availability Management process
- Cost-justifying availability requirements with Financial Management
- Attending Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings as required and assessing requests for change for their impact on availability

The Sustaining Engineering is responsible for designing, implementing and unit testing software fixes. The logical role of Sustaining Engineer applies to any individual who is designing, implementing and unit testing fixes to the software.
The Sustaining Engineer is also responsible for participating in the verification and validation of the of software solutions that are developed by their peers to ensure that the software is built correctly. Peer document review and Peer code review are key steps in the sustaining engineering process that provide an opportunity to identify defects in the design and the implementation of fixes before the software change is released.
