A Calgary family concerned about their children's homework load has signed a contract with their school to eliminate the problem altogether.

What do you think? Is this a more modern/advanced approach or should we, or the educational system stick to it's guns?

I didn't check the link yet, but I don't know any other method to replace homeworks.
So, with my limited experience and background on this subject, I should say that I believe in the power of a good homework.
The load should be carefully moderated though. There's no sense to bore kids to death under a heavy load of homework.

Well, they are referring to studies which prove that homework is only an extra burden, like extra work after a full day of work in school and doesn't add to the understanding or learning.

If that's so, homework as they are seem superficial and superfluous.

I wonder how kids are able to practice.
Because I see homework as a way to practice. I don't support giving marks based on homework, especilly mindless homework.
