Marina Fanouraki is an unlikely Greek heroine. In the early hours of Tuesday, in the Electra bar on the island of Crete, the 26-year-old is said to have doused a drunken British plumber with sambuca and set him alight. She then calmly gave herself up to police. She claims that 23-year-old Stuart Feltham groped her, exposed himself and demanded sex.

He denies her allegations. But in the eyes of many Greeks and regardless of the facts, Fanouraki is being hailed for her actions. Soz, I thought we were still on racism :)

Well, the first story would be true of any drunks, and I'm sure t happens pretty often. I see that kind of stupid behavior here at the seaside, with men in their fifties trying to "impress" the seasonal workers (mainly female, in their 20s). Not sure if they ever demand sex but then again, such behavior is, sadly so, "accepted" in Poland.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, I'm sure if I suffered from the 'Saint Sebastian complex' I would be convinced that the nuns had been arrested due to worldwide anglophobia and Jewish conspiracies against Britons.

out of curiosity (and sheer boredom) I googled the phrase "brytyjscy/angielscy turyści". Here ya go:

But most of the results date back to 2007 - I heard Poland is no longer a target for those idiots (hard to agree they aren't although the guys in the pic seem innocent).

Then again, I have nothing against the British as such (haha) - if you google "polscy turyści" you will be shocked even more. We come out as morons :)

I have spent two weeks in Faliraki two years ago. It felt like Kingston on Saturday night in summer break. Provided some "members of the great British public" behave the same way abroad I am actually surprised there are so few accidents. It seems a paying customer can be forgiven quite a lot ;)
