As far as I can make out, you can't really state that English beere are 'X' because there are an enormous variety of beers made in England.

There's bitter, mild, stout, brown and pale ale, and so on.

There's also 'lager', what would be regarded as 'beer' in Poland, which was not traditionally drunk in the U.K..

It used to be that every region had its own brewery which produced beer with its own distinctive taste.

If compared with Polish beers, generally speaking only one variety is produced (lager), by German owned companies, using unsophisticated mass production techniques, most of which generally taste more or less the same.warren whitmore edytował(a) ten post dnia 06.07.09 o godzinie 11:30

@Warren - geneally agree about Polish beers - if they weren't sparkling they would be really bad. They are realy far worse than German or Czech beers.
And about English - well, generally when I come to an English pub I just say "gimme a traditional English beer" and they give me a sparkless liquid without a distinct taste. Also I must say that yesterday I tried something called "Oxford Gold" and tbh it wasn't so terribly bad, but ...only simply bad :P Whatever I admit that 1 may find it drinkable and if it was sparkling it might be a way better. The slight taste of bitterness made it quite interesting but I still strongly prefer pilsner or lager.

I like Leffe. But if I were to choose, I'd go for Kronenbourg Blanc before Hoegaarden.

Hoegaarden is the one available in Korea like Leffe, but it is made for Korean market and therefore no longer tastes good.

Leffe here is good.

In Poland my favourite one is http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/580/17334 this one. Actually not exactly this one, but the old times "red" Lomza beer when it used to be only local brewery was the best.
