As far as I can make out, you can't really state that English beere are 'X' because there are an enormous variety of beers made in England.There's bitter, mild, stout, brown and pale ale, and so on.
There's also 'lager', what would be regarded as 'beer' in Poland, which was not traditionally drunk in the U.K..
It used to be that every region had its own brewery which produced beer with its own distinctive taste.
