What have been the highlights of the last two years?

uhm. meeting some of you and realising I'm so small (NOT VISUALLY, THOUGH ;-P) comparing to some (R.W., Ilter)
And what have been the low points?

some bad ass arguments, so called Z DUPY

videos and pictures ppl post are sometimes pretty funny.
nothing made me cry so far.

uhm, we'll proly gonna end up posting pictures of our kids/grandkids, etc.

i dunno, but i can see some kind of deterioration in the quality of posts (obviously, not from all)

all in all, i think anglosphere will eventually vanish..

Shit loads of pointless nagging, daft quarrels and dick waving.

Laugh - certain people, who became so foreign that all of a sudden conveniently "forgot" that they were Polish / could speak Polish. It probably is a London thing that after six months one forgets her mother tongue when back in Poland :P Cry - not much.
What does the future hold for Anglosphere, and where do we go from here?

Damfino. Less aggression and stupidity in some posts would be a godsend.

Anglosphere has just celebrated its second birthday.
Happy birthday to us!

What have been the highlights of the last two years?
Meeting most of those of us who are active till today. Keeping in touch with them. Becoming real friends with some.

And what have been the low points?
Leaving the group by some anglo members who contributed a lot.

What has made you laugh, and what has made you cry?
Laugh: some comments, when I was trying to imagine the emotions of the posters; some pictures; I often smiled when reading regular posts of people I know. I never cried.

What does the future hold for Anglosphere, and where do we go from here?
I don't think anything will change. We post less but we would be disappointed if Anglo disappeared from GL. We don't have as much enthusiasm as at the very beginning but I do appreciate the fact that instead of posting here I can make a phone call to people whom I met here.
So thank you, Anglosphere. And its father, Warren!

Nice post Violetta.

About enthusiasm, well no-one remains enthusiastic forever.

And once you've written about your likes and dislikes, you don't want to repeat everything again and again.

It's great that a few real life friendships have been created here.

About 'stupid' arguments and people leaving. As far as I'm concerned, the internet friendships that have been formed here are in some way important, but then again not that important. There is no sense in arguing with anyone over twenty pages. A few sharp words on the internet - well, no-one with any sense is going to put their head in the gas oven because of this. We all need to keep a sense of proportion about everything.

I would like anglo to be about 'genuine' interaction, and not "hello, you're nice, I really like you etc". Posters need to feel free to say what they really believe, even if this sometimes upsets others. And for some people anglo is not their 'cup of tea'. That's fine. There are other English groups on GL and elsewhere, where they can interact with their kind of people.

It is difficult to create a space in which Polish people who have learnt English to a high level and native speakers in Poland can interact. Some of the perceptions that both groups have can be surprising for the other, and prejudices and false stereotypes need to be challenged robustly.

Anglo has been quiet of late. But I'm sure it can be revived in some form or other.

Congratulations. It was a good idea and it's good to have it.

It could have been klanish but it's not managed that way. "It is difficult to create a space in which Polish people who..." (W). So it has particualar dynamics for highs and lows. For one thing, it's alright to resign if you need to avoid it because you don't wanna look but can't look away. That's being healthy. You would still never avoid a beach. The lows, such as some of the disaffections we express, aren't deeply personal-specific. It might feel like it but it's not. We don't have any Zyprexa customers here. On the other hand, the high points can be very personal and nice. I know from my own experience most of the time.

Yes, I've seen it in "birthday" thread... I couldn't believe it. Somehow it feels like Anglosphere was older than 2 years.
What have been the highlights of the last two years?
To me, none.
Some people post more often than others, and sometimes more people are active at the same time... maybe "the more people in, the better it is" for some people, but that doesn't matter to me.
And what have been the low points?
To me, none.
Anglosphere is still Anglosphere. Nothing has changed, according to my perception.
What has made you laugh, and what has made you cry?
Some of the posts made me laugh, and I don't see anything worth crying. A tragedy of an Anglosphere member could be an issue... oh, almost forgot... the loss of Patrycja that Joj reminded some time ago. That was sad, although I haven't met her.
