Film został nagrodzony na Festiwalu Astra Film w 2007 roku. Na początku 2008 roku trafi do kin w Belgii, Holandii i Niemczech.

“Cabala in Kabul” is a portrait of Afghanistan after the removal from power of the Taliban seen through the eyes of the last two Jewish people in Kabul. They divided the synagogue in two and each barricaded himself in his own corner. Isaac sells amulets and reads to barren women and soldiers, while Zabulon sells illegally- made alcohol. Because of the subject of the film and especially the way it's made, Dan Alexe's film was denied entry to lots of festivals.
