Witam! Hello!

My name is Kate and I'm a native Canadian working and living in Warsaw. Chciałabym zaprosić osób zainteresowanych czytaniem książek w języku angielskim do spotkania tzw.
'book club meetings', gdzie możemy porozmawiać o przeczytanych książkach in English:) Książki na różne tematy jak najbardziej okay!

I hope that this is of interest to some of you :)

Ostatnia moja "angielska" książka to T. Morrison "Beloved", jak dla mnie lekko ciężkawa i przygnębiająca.

This is indeed a great idea for those who want to improve their language skills.
Recently I read only technical books in English, borring stuff like finance, taxes and so on. Hope other people read something more exciting :>

I was planning to read "The lost symbol" by Brown. As it isn't a really ambitious literature, I wanted to make it such for me by reading it in English, but fot the time being I'm too busy. I'll start my holidays in 31 days and then I'll catch up with everything I stay behind.

Hi All,

I enjoy reading in English, cause sometimes the translation is not too perfect.
First of all, I read all Harry Potter books in English and most of Harlan Coben's thrillers. Now I started Silmarillion by Tolkien and Man and Boy by Tony Parsons.
I never read just one book, because i like to reach for a book that I am currently in a mood for :)

Hi :))

I'd like to get your suggestions about which book we could start reading. I see that the only person from Warsaw is me so we'll have to talk via computer screen :)

I have a few propositions: 1) The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Kundera); 2)Anything by Margaret Atwood or Isabelle Allende.

Has anyone read Christopher Moore? e.g. The Stupidest Angel or Lamb? He's a crazy guy and surely one that'll make your laugh :)

Anyway, looking forward to your suggestions.

I read both in Polish and English. However, inspired by long discussions with my friend I gave up reading some authors in Polish - Ruth Rendell, Minette Walters, PD James, Ian Rankin and, most of all, Colin Dexter with the beloved series about Inspector Morse. It is astonishing, even to me, that I find reading them in other language than English abnormal:) I think it is high time for another writer to join the group...

Ok, so how many of you are willing and able to meet in person in Warsaw? How many of you would prefer to communicate via GL?

Once we've got that set, we can choose a book and decide how much time we need to read a few chapters and how often we'll meet.
