Staff Mechanical Engineer – Wind Turbine Power Converter

DUTIES:

  • Mechanical design and product-support for Frequency-Converters / Switch-Gears used in multi megawatt wind power plants
  • Strong experience in 3D-CAD-applications (PTC-CREO / Pro-Engineer) or adequate and PLM/ERP-systems and item-change-management of bill of materials (BOM)
  • Strong experience in calculation / verification in certain electro-mechanical areas like bolted joints, corrosion, busbars, cables, hoses, power-electrical components
  • Preparation of specifications and good knowledge of relevant design-standards / norms
  • Strong experience in welding processes related to steel-construction elements
  • Strong experience in fluid relevant processes (like liquid cooling systems, tubes , hoses, fittings)
  • Experience in cost-efficient design
  • Strong experience in computational analysis for thermal, short-circuit, FEM, modal (vibration), CFD-simulations (e.g. Ansys etc.)
  • Good experience in applying DFSS-Toolset
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of design problems and determining solutions
  • Performing detailed analysis to evaluate potential solutions that would reduce risk, cost and complexity of design and test problems
  • Working on assigned tasks autonomously and able to work independently
  • Take an active role in an international engineering team

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • More than 8 years of proven experience in industry even in leading positions (team, projects)
  • Working experience in designing and documenting mechanical 3D-switch gears
  • Readiness to work overtime, international travel and perform other duties when required even in test-bays and at wind-turbines
  • Ability to effectively operate in the international project team environment and communicate with customers
  • Capable to drive results across organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well in English, orally and through written documentation
