Position purpose

Responsible for ensuring that risk and commercial best practice is taken into account throughout the sales cycle and applied to service delivery where required. The three key areas of responsibility are:

  • Business risk and management, and compliance.
  • Pre-sales deal shaping and reviews.
  • Statement of Work/Schedule drafting, review and approval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing appropriate commercial solutions for the business taking account of issues related to Sales, Delivery, Legal, Finance and Risk.
  • Ensuring that Capgemini Group, Application Services, and Consulting Services requirements are addressed appropriately to achieve Group and Strategic Business Unit (SBU) approval of deals.
  • Structuring deals, facilitating and working with the Legal team.
  • Assisting with negotiation of deals (both with clients and suppliers).
  • Creation of, or coaching related to, the deal negotiation strategy including ongoing status monitoring as the negotiation progresses.
  • Sign-off of deals from a business risk perspective prior to Exec approval.
  • Providing commercial handover from pre-sale to post-sale teams.
  • Coaching and providing ad hoc Commercial and Risk advice, guidance and training to Sectors and Delivery Units.
  • Re-negotiation of contracts, such as extensions and major changes.
  • Providing deal specific coaching and support to Contract Managers post sales.
  • Support of framework agreements including the ongoing relationships internally and externally.
  • Escalation to Head of Risk where appropriate.
  • Supporting the Contract Manager during the first few weeks of Delivery, where deemed appropriate.

Candidate’s profile

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in dealing with senior client and supplier representatives
  • Good understanding of contract and deal shaping in a pre-sales environment
  • Strong contract management, delivery management or legal background
  • Good numeracy skills and understanding of finances
  • An ‘eye for detail’
  • Understanding of basic legal and commercial principles

Desirable:

  • Engagement or service delivery management experience (eg EM, SDM or PMO)
  • Contract management experience in an application development or application management delivery environment
