Senior Mechanical Engineer – Wind Turbine Power Converter

DUTIES:

• Mechanical design and product-support for Frequency-Converters / Switch-Gears used in multi megawatt wind power plants
  
• Strong experience in 3D-CAD-applications (PTC-CREO / Pro-Engineer) or adequate and PLM/ERP-systems and item-change-management of bill of materials (BOM)
  
• Good experience in calculation / verification in certain electro-mechanical areas like bolted joints, corrosion, busbars, cables, hoses, power-electrical components
  
• Preparation of specifications and good knowledge of relevant design-standards / norms
  
• Focus on cost - efficient design
  
• Strong experience in computational analysis like thermal or short-circuit simulations (e.g. Ansys etc.)
  
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of design problems and determining solutions
  
• Creating test plans, technical coordination internally as well as with suppliers
  
• Performing detailed analysis to evaluate potential solutions that would reduce risk, cost and complexity of design and test problems
  
• Working on assigned tasks autonomously and able to work independently
  
• Take an active role in an international engineering team
  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  
• More than 4 years of proven experience in industry
  
• Working experience in designing and documenting mechanical 3D-switch gears
  
• Readiness to work overtime, international travel and perform other duties when required even in test-bays and at wind-turbines
  
• Ability to effectively operate in the international project team environment and communicate with customers
  
• Capable to drive results across organizational boundaries
  
• Demonstrated ability to communicate well in English, orally and through written documentation
