well, we all have sometimes very odd ideas. My sister is a nun, and I am not sure If she make the same choice, once again (if given a chance).
Numbers shows in all Europe, that volume of those who want to sacrifice its life to god is still shrinking.
No offence, but such a choice is more ideological than logical. Sometimes tragical. History knows cases when even atheists joined church in order to pursuit a careere. But nowadays the choice seems to be more flexible.
I am an Atheist so far away from pushing you there.
Before you learn this the hard way - read the book "God delusion" by Richard Dawkins. I know a lot of guys for which this book was crucial before decision...

Becoming a nun:
- getting married
- having to serve
- not much talking
- living in special rooms
- playing with perls on a chain
- polishing long, hard wood
- kneeling in front of the husband
- etc.pp.
I don't see much difference from being a regular wife or a prostitute. And I should know. Clare and I have been exploring this life style for quite a while now ;p

I think it's a miracle to be a human being in the universe, and take or leave religion, I'm grateful for it for doing its part in bringing loved ones along some trail from what - 100,000,000,000 other humans who came and went? Why decry the horrors of it now?(Still, it does seem a little rude to stretch someone out on a rock, cut out their heart and offer it to the sun - unless you're all drinking Chevas, of course). :)
