    1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it?
If no, why haven't you done this so far?

Many times, until I became a diabetic then I stopped. Why?...It made me feel good helping someone.

    2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

    Friedrich Nietzsche
    Fyodor Dostoevsky
    Jean-Paul Satre

    3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.

    No, never.
    4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?

    anything neon.
    5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?

Been a while, I would probably pay although I think the inviter should pay vs. the invitee.

2 What's the biggest age difference between you and someone you've dated?

3 Are you a good tipper? Why? Why not?
    Yes. Been there, done that.

4 If you had to assassinate a celebrity, (not a politician, dictator or Michael Jackson), who would it be?

No one, I could not kill someone .....unless my family was at risk.

5 What music would you like at your funeral? Why?

    No music ....

    Kari Wolk:
That's good - In my book, Dannys are always complete jerks. Daniels and Dans escape the stigma.

That is funny and for the most part I agree. I only know of two other Daniels. One goes by Danny (he is American) although he is over 50 - I find that strange as I associate Danny with a child. He is a Class A jerk. The other goes by Daniel (he is Polish)and seems like a good guy. Mind you I don't know him very well yet.

Nika is a lovely name. Healthy children is a blessing. :)

Thank you! She is a handful, 10 going on 20. I am sending her to Baba in Poland for the summer (and who knows if everything works out we may all be there by the end of the summer! God willing!) to bring her back in line. Nothing like Baba to bring a kid back to earth. LOL!

In the case of my name "Daniel", it was due to the fact my grandfather (maternal) loved the song "Danny Boy" and felt it was a good name for the Armstrong clan (further to the Ginger hair thread ....both grandparents and my mother were a lovely Scottish red). I detest being called Danny though.

My daughter is named Nika, my wife and I had mulled over Ija first but decided it would be too easy for other kids to make fun of the name. We had a list of Old Slavonic names to choose from went into separate rooms and wrote down our top three. Nika was number one on her list as well as mine.

In the end it is very appropriate as the definition of the name is conquers; or victory from Greek. We were told she was going to be very ill when she was born (they said she was going to have CF) and the turned out to be bloody wrong, and she was/is healthy as an Ox.

When you were little, what was your first career ambition?

    Anthropologist...
If you could be qualified instantly, what career would you choose now?

I would love to be an antique book dealer.

Can you play a musical instrument?

    Nothing well, many poorly.
Are men better at driving than women?

There are many poor drivers out there (here in Canada) especially those that have never operated anything more than an Ox yet seem to be able to get a permit and start driving as soon as they land.
Who is the most famous person you've met?

Princess Diana.....sigh, she was so amazing.

I've never really been a 'nice' person.

In fact, to be honest, I find 'nice' people (Joj springs to mind), a tad irritating.

Warren, out of interest - do you think being "strong willed" etc. over being nice is an advantage or disadvantage both from a personal and business perspective? It reminds me of the saying "Nice guys finish last".... in your experience is this true?

Probably ...I would have to get permission from my wife though..LOL.

I still can't find a job in Poland yet either. :(

But are you in Canada or Poland now?

    Canada...which explains why.

    Perhaps.
I don't think that finding a job is particularly easy if, like me, you haven't mastered Polish, but unless you are going to a position on the board of directors I can't imagine that they'd want to get involved with the complication of long-distance interviewing, though I guess you'll know for sure as it is your field.

However, the job market is pretty tight now, and unless people start returning from the UK, Ireland, etc. there's going to be serious problems with skills shortages and wage inflation, etc.

So far so good, I have recieved some excellent opportunities and had some interesting interviews. Things are much slower due to the distance but I remain hopeful that in the end things will work out.

It is not the norm to hire long distance but it does occur.

As for the person in question I know he is seeking something back here in Canada. It would be difficult for him as he has been out of the country a long time, the level of role he is seeking, and educational background. He would need to start at a lower level and lifestyle than I assume he would be accustomed to in Poland.

For an Ex-Pat returning to Canada it can be difficult if you have not been working for a large multinational overseas. Especially given how long he has been out of the market here.

I have had some interesting personal correspondence with him regarding my move to Poland.

Would you care to elaborate a little.

I, and probably not only I, am very curious about this person.warren whitmore edytował(a) ten post dnia 03.03.08 o godzinie 09:26

To be honest Warren I did not share his points of view but he seemed a decent individual and did not behave in any manner I would feel was inappropriate. As a whole I have spoken with many people - Poles and non-Poles - who have shared both the positive and negative when it comes to moving to Poland. He was no different in that regard.

I cannot comment on his business approach as I have not interacted with him on that level. I leave that to those who have dealt with him in that setting. He has been in Poland for some time (I believe he is still in Poland) so he must have had some success to date.

Might RA be Canada's answer to the great Mirek 'Mirpo' Polyniak?

How many football teams have you seen so far? Just one? :)

I have seen enough football games and teams over the last 13 years visiting Poland (and soon to be moving there) to know Jaga is the best.
